Indigo Airlines had started it market operations back in the year 2006 with a just a small fleet of 6 airbus A320 200 aircrafts. Since the
outset, the policy of the airline was extremely simple; it had to have just one kind of aircraft and one kind of cabin classes. This new all economy model of Indigo airlines had never been
tried before in the country and could have been proved wrong but on the contrary it has been so successful that within a small period of less than a decade it has made Jet Airways the most
popular choice in the civil aviation market in India. It today has a share of over 37% in the industry.
The current fleet size of Indigo Airlines is 97. It has no subsidiaries and is managed centrally from Gurgaon to keep things smooth, simple and running efficiently. The airline operates in 38 destinations around the world out of which 33 are domestic and 5 are international which are Bangkok, Singapore, Muscat, Dubai and Kathmandu. All these locations are strategically important to India.
Web Check In facility
Indigo operates more than 6800 flights every week and hence to manage the operations it has a simple check in system. To further ease the system the concept of Indigo Airlines Web Check in was introduced way back in 2010 when the use of smart phones and internet in India was not prevalent as it is today.
The system allows customers to confirm their intent to travel 24 to 48 hours prior to the journey remotely using the online check in facility or the Indigo Airlines mobile check in app. The customer can then reach the airport just 30 minutes before takeoff and get their boarding pass easily.
